Large amounts of aluminum are found usually in the brain of patients with Alzheimer's disease. This has led others to think that the disease is caused by the use of aluminum pots and pans, or oral ingestion of antacids or antiperspirants with aluminum.
It is a nice idea, but one with no scientific basis. Professor Luigi Amaducci Department of Neurology and Psychiatry at the University of Florence, said that other patients dealing with Alzheimer's disease, non-aluminum plaques inthe brain, which rules out this metal as the cause of the disease.
"It was some concern in recent years that dietary aluminum can to Alzheimer's disease or senile dementia in the elderly.
